Michael Gibbs' illustrations Lust, Faust, and The Visit have been accepted in Illustration West 44, the annual juried exhibition of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles was formed in 1953 and is a professional society committed to furthering the interests of illustrators. Its annual exhibition is among the industry's most prestigious.
The artwork will also be exhibited at the
Billy Shire Gallery in Los Angeles in April 2006.
Michael Gibbs is a nationally recognized illustrator whose work has been recognized extensively by Communication Arts Magazine, The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Print Magazine, and many others. Lust, Faust and The Visit are magazine and theater poster illustrations; Gibbs's work also appears on book covers, newspapers, and corporate publications.
Lust was created for Johns Hopkins University Magazine's special issue on the seven deadly sins, featuring the work of seven illustrators.
Faust was created for the Pittsburgh Opera's presentation of the Gounod opera, and was featured on the poster and the Opera's website.
The Visit was created for the Pittsburgh Repertory Theater's production of the Friedrich Durrenmatt play of the same name.
