PRESS RELEASE
July, 2007
"The busy bee has no time for sorrow," wrote William Blake in his Proverbs of Hell.
Nor, apparently, does a busy bee have time for sending out press releases. And so, belatedly, I'd like to create some buzz by highlighting a few pieces that were chosen for inclusion in two of illustration's most prestigious juried shows this past, very busy year.
I Pagliacci was juried into the Society of Illustrators 49 show, the annual juried exhibition of the Society of Illustrators. It also appeared in the Communication Arts Illustration Annual, July 2006.
I Pagliacci was an opera poster created for the Virginia Opera's 2006-2007 season, one of four posters I created for the VOA that year.
Susannah was also accepted into the Society of Illustrators 49 exhibition. LikeI Pagliacci, it was created for the Virginia Opera. Both pieces were art directed by Danielle Canonico, who was an absolute joy to work with.
Unplugged was the third of three illustrations accepted into the Society of Illustrators 49 show, which was on display February - April, 2007 in New York. Unplugged was created for a themed calendar (the theme was "fish") for Corcoran Printing in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Twelve illustrators created humorous illustrations about fish; Unplugged was chosen for the cover.
